EAC/Young Illinois Saves Joins Panel at the City
Treasurer of Chicago’s College Credit Event (Young Illinois
Saves/Get Real materials were provided at the event through a
donation from the Charter One Foundation.)
The "Be Money Smart" booth at the "Celebration Clinic" at "Our
Saviours Lutheran Church". The "Be Money Smart Booth" was
one of many offerings at the Clinic and provided financial
education and games for youth. The booth was provided by
the EAC through support from MB Financial, member FDIC.
Thousands of high school students in Illinois and nationwide
benefited from the Get Real: Financial Decisions in the Real
World curriculum made possible through a development grant from
the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards.
Going Green and Getting Going. Area youth will learn that
helping the earth can make money sense during Money Smart Week
2009. This program is sponsored by Midwest Bank, member
FDIC.
Chicago area teens have a new opportunity to
learn about business, finance and entrepreneurship – On the
Money Magazine. This program was supported in part through
donations from HSBC-North America, the Young Leaders Fund and
the 11-10-02 Foundation.
The Office of the City Treasurer of Chicago, the Economic
Awareness Council & True Star Foundation held a financial
education conference for teens during Money Smart Week Chicago
2009. The conference, Chicago Youth Saves, involved the
participation of over 60 teens who were leaders in their
community. This conference was supported through a grant from
HSBC – North America.
Epsilon Delta students made a plan to reach their
financial goals during Money Smart Week Illinois 2009. This
cooperative program was presented by the EAC and Cline Financial
Concepts, LLC with support from HSBC- North America and Busey
Bank, member FDIC.
Students at area high schools will ‘get real’
about their financial management skills through the newly
updated Get Real financial education program for teens offered
by the local non-profit, Hinsdale based Economic Awareness
Council (“EAC”). This programming used at numerous Chicago high
schools is supported through a grant from HSBC– North America.
Students at Austin Polytechnical Academy High School ‘got real’
about their financial management skills as they completed the
newly updated Get Real financial education program for teens
offered by the local non-profit, Hinsdale based Economic
Awareness Council (“EAC”). This programming was supported
through a grant from ABC Bank, member FDIC.
“The
Clinic” at Trinity Lutheran Church. The “Be Money Smart Booth”

Smart Week Chicago 2009.
Hinsdale Public Library and Indian Prairie Public Library
offered a Free Your Design Dollar Workshops for 3rd through 8th
grade in partnership with the Economic Awareness Council, the
Hinsdale Area Girl Scout Service Unit, Hinsdale Bank and Trust
and the Community Bank of Willowbrook, members FDIC.
2000 Peoples Resource Center (PRC) clients received basic
banking information through the Hope Builders program during
Money Smart Week Chicago 2009. The Hope Builders program was
provided through the joint efforts of the People’s Resource
Center and the Economic Awareness Council through support from
MB Financial, member FDIC.

area students and families have their money questions answered
through this online question and answer session with
representatives from the Financial Planning Association of
Illinois and the 2008 Money Smart Kid offered by
ChicagoParent.com as well as the Economic Awareness Council and
the Financial Planning Association of Illinois. Students also
learn through a magazine activity spread in Chicago Parent
Magazine. This Money Smart Week offering was provided through a
grant from HSBC – North America.
Hinsdale
area students and families learn about Money Smart Week and the
benefits of saving through a magazine activity spread that
included a listing of events, word find and interview with an
expert, an EAC volunteer.
